There is a sprinkling of  Sarawakian women who have gone into the plantation business according to the land records.  One can’t help noticing how well-connected they are!

For example Datin Thersa Toyat, who is a relative of the Chief Minister.  Theresa is also married to the former State Secretary and CEO of the company managing SCORE (Taib’s pet development concept) Wilson Baya Dandot.  In such an important position Dandot should of course avoid conflicts of interest, so presumably this is why the large plantation way over in the Baram region is registered in the name of his wife?

Proper spelling is Theresa Toyat (according to the Register of Companies). Theresa's daughter owns 10% of Amazing Greens and Theresa herself 90%

Theresa is also the highly successful owner of the company Saredah Sdn Bhd (which is the address given for Amazing Green).  Saredah is a cleaning company and has managed to get many lucrative contracts handling the cleaning of state government buildings and offices!

So, it is not hard to understand why so many people in the state complain that there is no chance of getting on in business or of landing contracts or concessions without being connected in some way to the Taibs or their cronies!  Take Sarawak’s top plantation women Raziah and Eliah Geneid – sister and niece of Taib, of course.

Another lady who features as a plantation owner is Fatimah Abdul Rahman.  She has managed to acquire a very large plantation title in Sri Aman region, according to the records.

She is of course the daughter of the former Chief Minister and State Governor Tun Rahman Ya’kub, who is now reconciled with his nephew the Current Chief Minister and pushing his other daughter Norah to be the next Chief Minister herself!

Norah is the MP to the Federal Government for Tanjung Manis, which Taib has been pushing as a major industrial region, focused around his vision of creating an international ‘Halal Meat Hub’.

This is planned for after the Chief Minister has generated another fortune clearing the region’s 77 thousand hectares of remaining mangrove forests of course, which he describes as ‘pristine agricultural land’!

As ever mixing politics with business, Taib has also found it appropriate to appoint Norah Executive Chairman of Tanjung Manis Industries, the state-supported initiative that runs the Halal Hub.

So what is the distinction between private business, state initiatives and Taib family interests in Sarawak?  None it would seem, because if you ring the telephone number registered for Norah’s sister Fatimah above in the land record (which we did) you will find that you have been put through to the Tanjung Manis Halal Hub Sdn Bhd!

We have referred to another form of female influence in Sarawak, the power exerted by the Bomoh Stella,, who was until recently a trusted advisor of Taib and his household!  Should anyone question the central role she played over the years we attach this picture of the regal family, published in 2003.  The only non-family member featured in the picture is Stella (Australian Kharleen Tashman).  This was before Stella started dying her hair to become the ‘Blond Bomoh’!

    There's no conflict but convergence of interest. It's a matter of interpretation. That's their defense. Remember Karim AR Hamzah said if "opportunity" comes their way in line of duty, it is only right that they grab it. And Taib mahmud blamed the poor for not grabbing those opportunities as the root cause of their poverty. Perhaps, the people will now grab the one REAL opportunity that is ACTUALLY coming their way on April 16, the one opportunity that could have not come at a better time to show their feelings.

Do you believe him? Ok how about the internal monopolies he and his families had acquired and enjoyed thuis far. Do you rememebr how long Tun Abdul Aahman yackub has become a CM of Sarawak. The same stories during the Chinese News Years, he and his entrourgae will visit Sibu to meet the Timber Tychoons. We have heard the stories about the timber corruption during Rahman'd time. In the light of the above highlighted, do you think Taib did not get any thing i.e. before 30 years ago after all the post of CM was handed over to him by Tun Rahman.God only know.

      If Karim AR Hamzah were to be in line of duty in some outpost in the middle of Borneo's rainforest, we want to see what opportunities in life he can grab, assuming he has the survival skills to survive in the first place!

      It's unbecoming of a political secretary to say the things he did. Is he giving a 'politically correct' signal to the public? Is he on the same level playing field like the rest of us?

      The real truth is Taib Mahmud set up his company SAKTI International is to siphone off his corruption money to overseas. That's the real reason not because his daughter is good at business. Its Taib shit saying his daughter is good at business. SR should analyse the cash flow & financial transactions of the company to give us more highlighs on the extend of Taib corruption and MACC must investigate Taib Mahmud's scandals. The developments that we have in S'wak comes from Federal government, not from the Taib state government. The state money all goes to Taib's pocket. That is Taib Mahmud's politics of development, a corrupted persons ideology, the mother of all corruptions in Malaysia. Port Klang is nothing compared to the extend of Taib Mahmud's corruption here. Everywhere we can see the evidence in Sarawak. Just for example; not to mention the NCR lands; look at the prime state lands in Kuching eg. Pending, Batu Lintang, Simpang 3, where is it now, who benefits?…. definitely the damn Taib Mahmud !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The one enemy we are facing besides BN are IGNORANT PEOPLE! There are still those who are illiterate or in the dark who are easily hoodwinked and blindly support BN! I have come across some who take lightly the issue of corruption and that it just happens as a norm no matter who we vote for.     All along I have said many many times that we cannot trust Tun Rahman's quarrel with Taib. It is the only way for Melanau to stay and rule Sarawak with an iron clad fists.

    The quarrel between Uncle and nephew hanya sendiwara saja supaya Melanau pegang kan KUASA of which the dayaks and Malays failed to see and analysed. Now that the dayaks and Malays to a certain extend suffer but mosr of all the DAYAKS..percaya sangat kepada Taib dan Tun Rahman.

    ‘BN using army, soldiers to frighten voters’

    MalaysiaKini – KUCHING: The state Barisan Nasional (BN) is allegedly using its military personnel to intimidate voters in the outlying areas in Sarawak.

    According to Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian, he has been receiving reports of army personnel threatening constituents as “there is so much at stake”.

    “The state BN government even uses the army to threaten people as there is so much at stake in this coming election.

    “Just last evening I have received reports from my area, Ba’Kelalan, that the army personnel who are now constructing roads to Ba’kelalan are telling people if they vote for the opposition and the Barisan Nasional lost, they will tear down all the schools,” he said.

    Bian, who is poised to contest in Ba’Kelalan, also said that a “desperate BN” had begun flushing cash into longhouses in several constituencies ahead of nomination day on April 6 and polling on April 16.

    “We have also received reports that Alfred Jabu (deputy chief minister and Layar assemblyman) has offered RM500 per family.

    “We heard that Jabu and his men are moving around in the Layar constituency handing over cash to longhouse chiefs.

    “In the Krian constituency, Peter Nyarok (the incumbent and assistant minister) is telling people that if they are going to vote for Pakatan, we will withdraw projects that have been given to their longhouses.

    “Nyarok is trying to exert his seemingly ministerial power to threaten and instil fear in the people,” he said.

    “What kind of politics do we have now? This is a sad thing. We expect the coming election to be the dirtiest one, ” he added.

    Money politics

    Bian was alluding to a recent allegedly secret poll which claimed that BN could crash out in the coming election.

    The poll had revealed that Chief Minister Taib Mahmud’s Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Party (PBB) was likely to lose at least 14 of its 35 seats and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) at least 12 of its 19 seats. Both parties form the spine of Sarawak BN.

    The two other Dayak-based parties – Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Partiy (SPDP) – have eight seats each. SPDP is also facing a tough fight in at least four seats.

    Said Bian: “As the polling day gets nearer, they (BN) have to resort to money politics and threats because there is so much at stake, particularly for the chief minister and many of his cronies.”

    “Not only from the political point of view, but also business… look at the businesses of those who depend on the government and the chief minister for contracts and tenders,” he said.

    “They cannot afford to lose and that is why they have to use money to buy votes. It is now starting. We need to curb this, otherwise it would stay. And we have to tell people to beware of this kind of politics.

    “It is going to go on and on until the last minute of the election. It is getting worse.”

    “Hopefully, we can curb and eradicate money politics and eventually the people will beware of it and hope they will not be duped by these threats.”

      Always rememeber my country men, if we are not careful we are going to lose in all Bumiputra Constitutencies except the urban areas. They will play dirty to win at all costs. Baru Bian will face difficulties cos most of the boxes need to be carried via riverine and air operations. There are no one to moniter and any thing can happen, TM has every thing to think about Baru Bian adversely. He is the most active advocate defending NCR cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal/Federal Court.

          According to an insider of PR, Votes will be counted on the spot as soon as the last voter cast his vote. The result will then be filled in to a form and sign by the election commission representative of that constituency. each polling agent will have a copy of the results. PR will assign at least 4 persons at every one constituency. so the chance for them to cheat or temper with the ballot box is very slim.. my only worry is, they might buy our polling agents… just name the price, they will have enough to hand out…

    I commend your blog and what it is trying to do. ON April 17th we will all know how effective the combined efforts of this blog, Free Sarawak Radio and the opposition have been. If by some divine miracle, the opposition take control of the State, then Sarawakians will never be able to repay the debt to all of you for your tireless efforts to bring down what must surely be an evil, corrupt regime.

    I fear however, that this blog and the radio station etc may not realize that highlighting the corruption of the TM family is really neither here nor there as far as the vast majority of Sarawakians are concerned. Most of them worry about their basic day to day needs just to be able to put enough food on the table. I fear that in your efforts to overthrow a cruel regime – you have not shown the people how an alternative government will solve their woes of having secure jobs, being able to pay their bills, ensuring that their kids get a decent education, that they will have access to the best medical health care, that they will have freedom of worship, that they will have a clean and safe environment to live in etc etc.

    Now that the elections are nearing, I suggest that you also highlight other issues – like the fact that they will not be ruled by a minority of 27% of the population (and even that because of illegal citizenship to those who should never have been given it), the Al Kitab issue etc etc. I really think you need to address a wider base of issues to be able to galvanize the minds of the masses. But overall – please keep up the good work. Than you Clare!

      I don't see SR as a ready & packaged solution to the many problems we face back home daily & neither was it intended to play that role (I suppose).

      We've to resolve the problems on the ground by ourselves. To me, what SR has done successfully, regardless of the election result, was to broadcast the seed for social justice, responsible environment stewardship, and the fight for basic human rights. Anything wrong with that? If you want to take issue, call UN's representative in KL and say your heart out.

      Be a good listener by listening to the reply, though.

        What happens each day of the year should be your primary focus. Let not politics ruin your happiness and libido. Take it with a pinch of salt and add pepper, if you must.

    To all of you there. Go to the ground and explain to the rural people. Make them vote for Pakatan Rakyat (DAP, PAS, KeAdilan).

    Explain why they should not vote for SNAP tho' it may claim itself to be opposition party. SNAP is active trying to convince people to vote for them. Sadly to say, SNAP's move had some people confused. Don't vote for PCM or Party Jathropa (PERSB), or any other parties or independent candidate. Baru Bian is the answer. No matter what people may say about him. He's our saviour.

    I've been on the ground for quite sometimes now and to a lot of rural areas. Mind you, there are still people who don't know PKR, and ignorant of corruption, cronism, etc. Make them see the light and vote for change. Try by all means. Make them vote for PR.
