Malaysia at the crossroads

In the history of all nations there are seminal moments when their whole future is determined by what happens at that moment and whether there is one or more persons who, by acting, can change the course of events for the better; or, by inaction, ruin the country’s future. For example, in 1940, one man, Winston Churchill saved his country, Europe and the world from the evils of Nazi dictatorship.

Now such a moment has arrived for Malaysia. The present Government is over its head in corruption, both personal and institutional. It can survive only by continuing its mega thefts of public funds, its bribery of MPs, the judiciary, the police and whoever else presents a threat to its continuance. It is wholly under the control of a man who is a suspected thief and connected to even worse and who is moving steadily towards a dictatorship that would extinguish Malaysian democracy for good.

So who can stem this tide of evil? There is one person and one only who has the power to act decisively to return Malaysia to the path of democracy and honest representative government according to the  will of the people

That person is the Head of State; the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.  Under the Constitution he has the power to dissolve Parliament and cause new elections to be held. That is his right alone and no one; least of all the criminal Prime Minister can prevent him from doing so.

It is the right thing to do and it is the democratic thing to do. Whether individual electors believe or not that Najib is a criminal there can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that his leadership has been disastrous for all Malaysians except those who silence and support he has bought with the people’s money. The economy is nearing collapse. The ringgit daily loses value. Taxation has been heavily increased and will have to increase again and, worst of all, democratic rights and freedoms have been extinguished by Naib using a purchased Parliamentary majority which represents only itself.

Best of all an election offers the choice of retaining the existing corrupt rulers or cleaning house in the best interests of all the people of Malaysia. If Najib was anything but a corrupt crook he would demand the verdict of the people in a fresh election.  Naturally he will not so it is the clear duty of the King to oblige him to do so and allow Malaysians a democratic choice.

Clearly one voice may not be heeded even if speaking the incontrovertible truth. So all Malaysians who agree with a call to the Agong to act should let him know that; NOW.
