The Altantuya murder re-surfaces once more and this time there is no BN Prime Minister to order that the facts be buried along with the shredded victim.

It would not be proper to make new allegations about guilt at this point. But it IS proper to urge that this whole matter be re-investigated, using, if necessary, expert murder enquiry officers from outside the PDRM. This would avoid any suspicions that the Malaysian Force could try to cover up facts to protect itself from blame. One would expect the Insector General of Police both to grasp this and to agree to it.

It is clear that the original trial  was manipulated with the express purpose of deflecting any suspicion away from then PM Najib who clearly had had an improper relationship with the murdered girl while in France over the submarine purchase negotiations. Having made her pregnant he wished at all costa to prevent his wife from finding out about that.

Instead of facing his problems like a man he looked for another solution and found it in the form of a shadowy unit in the PDRM, kept secret from all and available for dirty work as needed; including what the Soviet KGB called “wet work” i.e.murder.

The truly gruesome shredding of her dead body, and that of the infant that possibly lived on in it for a brief time by the use of explosives can only have been specified as a precaution against a post mortem finding the foetus and blood typing it. To order it blown to shreds was a Macbethian revenge for which it is hard to see anything other than jealousy.

Whatever the final outcome of the affair may be it is unarguable that  further, and this time professional, investigation be carried out. There is power to commute death sentences and this is a clear case where the interests of Justice require this to be done so that both the police officers can tell a new trial; of Najib and Baginda, the full story behind this gruesome murder.

And, incidentally, if the IG has not already done so, the thug squad to which both these policemen belonged, should be disbanded and a full enquiry carried out into ALL its past activities.
