Elementary Arithmetic

One and one make two. Every child learns that and none dispute its truth. Equally true is 170 out and 170 in is also indisputable. A cleverer criminal would have made a small alteration so that the figures didn’t exactly match. But one both arrogant and stupid, motivated by personal greed, did not think enough about that.

So 170 million of public funds was stolen from the public purse (in this case KWAT) and exactly the same amont, washed through other accounts in a futile attempt at concealment, finished up in the personal bank account of mega thief Najib Razak; shamefully stlll Prime and Finance Minister of Malysia.

Even a really stupid man, and he clearly fits that description, would not steal a huge amount of public oney when all the world knows that he had no private wealth;or none that he could publicly acknowledge . French submarine purchase bribe money?  But that had to remain a (poorly hidden) secret. But honest wealth? None.

So why? Criminal tendencies that he could not control?  A belief that even if he had no wealth he ought to have and it was the duty of Malaysians to provide it,or  his divine right to steal it?  By the time this transaction happened he already had much more stolen money in his possession as he had shared the proceeds of the 1MDB/PetroSaudi  deal with Jho Low and other crooks.

Perhaps he might like to parade a demanding wife with an obsession about precious stones as an excuse? But even the fanciest diamond necklaces do  not cost billions. So it seems that we have to put it down to a warped criminal mind, motivated by thoughts that, as he sees himself, the most important man in Malaysia must also be the richest?  But failing to observe that the richest are almost always the smartest. And whatever else Najib may be accused of smart is last
