The unfortunate victim of the kangaroo law governing use of the media in Malaysia found himself condemned to a massive fine for “insulting Najib”
Presumably the “judge” who imposed this penalty had never heard of 1MDB or read the US DoJ’s comprehensive proof that Najib is a mega criminal! How does anyone insult a mega criminal?
The size of the fine was no doubt calculated to ensure that the accused, who is unemployed, could not pay it. The Court was fully aware of his financial position and knew that payment would be impossible. This is what Malaysian Courts call “justice”!
The law under which this conviction was registered is in itself a fundamentally undemocratic and totalitarian one passed through the Assembly by arch thief Najib in a vain bid to limit public criticism of his personal crimes. It will, of course, be repealed by the PH government which will restore freedom of expression to all Malaysians.
