Press reports indicate that a decision by Bersatu to extend its activities to Sarawak might result in PKR having to give up some of the seats it holds in the State Assembly.

While such reports are, in all probability, inaccurate, if not totally fabricated, the facts of the matter are that Bersatu is, basically, a Malay party and that the areas in Sarawak where the Malay/Melanau vote is important or dominant are all held by the ex BN party which now works in, proclaimed, alliance with PH in the Federal Assembly.

Any logical extension of Bersatu activity to Sarawak should be aimed at such seats, nearly all of which are held
by GPS at present.

What might be a more practical initiative would be to correct the break up of some State seats by the Electoral Commission during Najib’s dictatorship to create “mini constituencies” in areas where BN would expect to win by communal exploitation of the vote; as well as by the notorious corruption which has disfigured Sarawak State elections for decades. Even if legal time limits on electoral boundary changes might appear to block such reform  PH have the majority in the Assembly and could correct the matter by legislation, assuming that GPS would agree to cut its own throat.
