Applications for agricultural funds and projects in Permatang Pauh will not be approved if Pakatan Rakyat wins the by-election again, an Umno minister warned voters.

Agriculture and Agro-based Industries minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic, right) said this in his speech this evening in the Kuala Mengkuang polling district while rallying support for Barisan Nasional’s candidate in the by-election, Suhaimi Sabudin.

Ismail said only Suhaimi would be able to bring issues to Parliament.

“This is an agricultural area. I will surely approve if it is Suhaimi who is making the applications.

“If it is (PKR’s president and candidate Datuk Seri Dr) Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail), she will not even get past my office lobby.

“There is no reason for me to see her. She is from the opposition,” he told over 100 villagers during a session with voters in the district, which is a BN stronghold in Permatang Pauh.

The jaw drops reading of such blatant blackmailing of voters by a Minister in Government.

In any country governed by the rule of law this man would not have survived in office for an hour after making such threats to his own electors.

Within the hour also the police would have been at his door with a charge sheet as long as your arm, relating to corruption offences and the abuse of power.

However, these UMNO guys have rigged their control of office in Malaysia for so long that they believe they are above the law.

When backed into a corner, as they presently are by the tide of public opinion, they see no problem with issuing direct threats of this nature to people who might otherwise vote them out.

The worst of it is that this Minister probably has no real understanding of the gross violation of the laws he has committed, because under his government it has just become a way of life.

These voters should remember bullies are cowards and that the likes of UMNO will in fact have more respect for Rompin (and reward them better) if they punish this minister at the polls than if they submit to his threats.
