Not connected?

A federal government lawyer told a Court that the “Government” is not connected to PM Najib or 1MDB.

Well we are used to legal double speak when the results of criminal activity come home to roost. But this must be either the record or very close.

Unless something secret has happened arch thief Najib is and at all relevant times was the Prime Minister and head of the government as defined in the Constitution. True there is a lot of evidence to show that Najib’s head is not connected to anything much but he is still, until GE14, Prime Minister.

How then can he be “not connected” to the “Government”? Of course the lawyers are merely trying to pretend that a criminal Prime Minister does not make the government he heads criminally liable when he commits mega crimes. Maybe, in Malaysia, home of some of the world’s most eccentric courts, they can contend this. But surely not successfully?

Najib stole billions via 1MDB. At all times he was head of the government, and sole decision maker at 1MDB. So the taxpayer must foot the bill for his mega thefts?
