RELA In Sabah

Deputy Minister Nur Jazlan launched an attack against Sabah politician Shafie for querying the role of RELA members sent to Sabah. Why?

Is the Malaysian public not supposed or allowed to know the reason for this deployment? After all they will be paying for it; just as they pay Nur Jazlan’s salary.

Why anyway? Is there some new security threat in Sabah? Another Suluk occupation of part of Sabah? If the Armed Forces found it difficult to cope with the last such how can RELA, a civilian body, be expected to be more successful?

Or is this some election related scam aimed at countering the growing Sabah opposition to rule by diktat from Putrajaya?

What is clear is that the Najib regime have some ulterior motive for this deployment and are trying to keep it secret. They are no more likely to succeed in that than they have been in attempts to present the 1MDB mega thefts as a minor administrative mishap.
