US mega criminal Al Capone evaded justice in the USA for years by a mixture of bribery and intimidation. He was finally dealt with by the use of tax laws; he having evaded tax due for years.
Since it appears that the Solomon Islands authorities either cannot or will not deal with tax evasion by Sarawak timber companies Malaysia must do so itself.
Tax law is a Federal matter and evasion of tax due is a criminal matter equally within Federal jurisdiction. So the question has to be asked. Is the failure to collect tax due on income derived from the Solomon Islands (and New Guinea for that matter) simple incompetence or something worse.
