The Fund the Lawyer and the Thief

As recently disclosed in detail by Sarawak Report arch thief Najib Razak had possession of and illegally disbursed hundreds of millions of ringgit stolen from the public fund SRC. Not content with using this money to buy the 2013 election by criminal means he also spent some of it on luxury cars and his personal expenses, including a mega handout to his son

When, at a later stage of the Najib thieving saga, his toady and personally appointed Attorney General Apandi Ali tried to clear Najib of theft allegations at a press conference personally called by himself, this failed lawyer and inept criminal displayed papers proving Najib’s thefts from SRC.

In many countries that would have led to the arrest of Najib and the dismissal and prosecution of his toady Attorney General. Not Malaysia however where this crooked lawyer continues to occupy the office of Attorney General.

The only reason why Apandi is still in office and not where he deserves to be, in jail, is that he holds his job by virtue of constitutional provisions. Briefly these dictate that Attorneys General are appointed by the Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister. However, once appointed, they hold their office during the pleasure of the Agong who can therefore at any time dismiss an incompetent and or a criminal Attorney. The Prime Minster has no constitutional say in such dismissals.

This criminal boil on Malaysia’s body politic, AG Apandi, could, and in view of his conduct should, be summarily dismissed by the Agong, if only to save Malaysia, of which he is the supreme Head from being an object of international ridicule and contempt.
